Shrewsbury is a small county town in the heart of Shropshire, England. It has a rich history and a vibrant contemporary life. There's plenty here to write about, and whether it's in music, poetry or flash, there are plenty of people in Shrewsbury and its surroundings who are doing just that.
In 2012, Shrewsbury had the honour of being the launch event for the first ever National Flash Fiction Day. HERE'S a short film that gives the flavour of that event. Again, in 2013, we met at the Shrewsbury Coffeehouse to celebrate Flash Fiction Day, and the writing on this website grew out of these two events.
On this website you'll find authors young and old, published and with no publishing experience as yet, all of us Shropshire authors and a part of Flash Fiction Shrewsbury. You'll find all styles of writing and diverse interests. Some pieces have been honed over months, maybe even years. Some of the flash here has been written in a flash - literally on the night at one of our Flash Fiction Shrewsbury events.
We hope you enjoy our stories. If you live in or are passing through Shrewsbury do come and join us at the Shrewsbury Coffeehouse on the middle Wednesday of each month, gathering from 7.00pm onwards for a 7.30pm prompt start. We're all about writing, reading and making our stories heard. Writers and readers alike are welcome to join in.
